Summary

PI Scoring Logic

MIPS eligible clinicians MUST use EHR technology certified to ONC Certification Criteria for Health IT necessary to meet the CEHRT definition.

Each measure is scored based on the MIPS eligible clinician’s performance for that measure, except for the measures which require a Yes/No attestation.

For 2026, CMS did not change the base scoring structure for the PI category in 2026—the objectives, required measures, and max points remain the same, with one important addition:

NEW for 2026

  • TEFCA Public Health Reporting Bonus (5 points)
